Sure, “classic” conservatives like Ann Coulter and Bill Cunningham might have a lot of fun bandying about Barack Obama’s middle name, but John McCain certainly didn’t stand for it.
Now, the Republican National Committee is following suit, saying after a cell in Tennessee put out a slanderous press release about Obama’s middle name and trips to Africa, “The RNC rejects these kinds of campaign tactics.” And while that historically hasn’t been true, this is certainly a refreshing turn for the party of small-tent traditionalists.
Let’s see if the non-politically employed members of the conservative movement can grow up and follow suit.

just talked to a labmate who is muslim. she told me the following:
barack hussein obama is considered to be muslim by arabic ppl. because in arabic or muslim culture, the religion is passed from dad to children, NOT from mom. barack hussein obama’s father and stepfather were all muslim, so was he!!! that’s why he is hiding his middle name from the world. she also feels strange how come nobody knows this obvious thing and he is hiding this for this long.
I think the main issue is the scare tactics being employed by Mr. Obama’s political opponents. It is unfair to him and his political efforts to turn people away from him based on their own uncertainty and prejudice.
And based on your comment — which suggests that Barack Obama is somehow both “secretly Muslim,” and also that he has no control over his own cultural and religious identification — it’s obvious that there are plenty of people out there still willing to believe propaganda which is based on ignorance.
